What it is

Healthengine is the Australian marketplace for finding, booking, and managing primary-care appointments. Patients use the website and app to reach GPs, dentists, physios, specialists, pharmacies, and telehealth. Practices list availability and take bookings around the clock.

The clinic side is a suite: Online Bookings, Patient Connect for allied and dental, GP Complete for general practice, and PAMS for pharmacies. Bookings are meant to land in the practice management system the clinic already runs, not a second diary.

What it does

  • Let patients search by suburb, specialty, and availability, then book same-day, after-hours, or telehealth.
  • Put the practice in front of people already looking for an appointment, 24 hours a day.
  • Sync schedules into 25+ practice management systems so the Healthengine diary and the clinic diary stay the same diary.
  • Remind, waitlist, collect payments, and keep patients connected before and after the visit.

The commercial pitch is access. Patients get a booking without calling the front desk. Practices fill leftover slots without hiring more reception time.

How I contributed

I was Web Support, not a product engineer. For three months I sat on the live appointment platform: phone, chat, and tickets, while practices could not take or keep bookings.

  • Diagnosed Appointment Connector failures, where the integration stopped writing bookings into the clinic's practice management system.
  • Diagnosed remote-connectivity issues that took a practice off the Healthengine network altogether.
  • Held a 10/10 NPS across that queue.
